KGC ATTACHED GIRLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
WHAT KIND OF PERSON DO YOU WANT TO BE IN THE FUTURE

The goal of Koriyama Women's University Attached Girls Senior High School, part of the Koriyama Kaisei Gakuen complex, is to enhance the position and level of culture of women in Fukushima prefecture, and to increase their level of happiness.
A necessary part of this idea is to prepare students for their entrance into society by providing them with qualifications and certifications that they will take with them throughout their lives. They must develop ideas and knowledge that is good for family life, but also matches the needs of women in modern society: nutrition, cooking, early childhood education and so forth.
This requires that the emphasis on education is placed in such a way as to encourage students to develop their own goals.
Since the school is a part of the Kaisei Gakuen complex, students are able to more easily further enhance their knowledge and skills through continued study in either the two-year or four-year college programs.

・History

Koriyama Women's Junior College was established in 1950 as the first women's junior college in Japan.
Seven years later, in 1957, the Attached Girls High School was opened with a course in General Study.
Beginning in 1965, courses were offered in Music, Design (Art), and Food Science.
They also were given permission by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to open their cooking facilities for practice in food preparation.
In 1985 an English course was added as a part of the General Education Course.
In 1973 the new high school building complex was opened with a floor space of 33,405mX2, and was called the "white palace." The building consists mainly of four wings running east and west, centered around the gymnasium in the middle.
This new and fresh design has served as a model for many schools since then.
The school, which started with fifty students, has now grown to 1,755, and continues to develop strong ties with the junior and senior colleges.
