The study of music allows us greater appreciation of the music we are familiar with in our daily lives.
Working with an excellent program and staff, complimented with outstanding facilities and equipment,
students are able to make progress towards a truly high standard of achievement in the field.
Students within the major can focus on any of a variety of particular interests, including piano,
stringed instruments, vocal music, chorus, orchestration, conducting and ensemble.
The department gives a yearly concert every Fall to present to the public musical pieces and
instrumentation that students have been working on since the Spring.
Preparation for this concert provides the students with a chance to put into practice much of what they have studied.
The field placement rate for students is close to 100% each year.
